The Australian Ex-Prisoners of War Memorial honours more than 35,000 Australians who were held prisoner during the Boer War, the first World War, the Second World War and the Korean War. It is a place of national honour, remembrance and healing for all Australians. The memorial takes visitors on a journey to a different time and place, one where heroism, sacrifice and mateship were the defining characteristics of our prisoners of war. The Official Dedication of The Australian Ex-Prisoners of War Memorial took place on Friday, 6 February 2004. |
